To make the EU stronger and more competitive in the field of cybersecurity, and to improve the Union’s research, innovation and skills capacities, the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) has been established in Bucharest.

The ECCC is also responsible for implementing relevant projects and initiatives together with the Network of National Coordination Centres.
Financial support
The ECCC is tasked with administering financial support for cybersecurity from the EU's Horizon Europe and Digital Europe (DIGITAL) programmes. Among other things, the centre will set strategic priorities, develop work programmes, implement calls and provide expert support through guidance and collaboration. The ECCC will lead the Network of National Coordination Centres and chair working groups of registered members of the European Cybersecurity Competence Community.
